My condolences to you and your family. I really enjoyed reading about him through the stories you have posted here, and I hope you will continue to share them when you feel up to it.
Thank you, everyone. The wake is Tuesday, funeral Wednesday.
Just so you know, the family have not been in the clutches of abject grief since he died. The length of his illness and his slow, steady decline did much to prepare us for, anticipate, and practically welcome his final breath. The sense of relief, release and calm we all feel is palpable, and we have been able to clearly focus on the arrangements and on remembering him in the positive light that shone on everything he did and everyone he touched. There has been much humor and laughter in his memory since Thursday, and a minority of tears.
Why do they call it a "wake" when that is certainly NOT what the guy is gonna do?
